Men's Basketball League to Tip Off on October 10

The Qatar Basketball Federation has set October 10 as the start date for the men's basketball league for the 2026-2027 season, with nine clubs taking part.

The first phase will run until November 9 and feature Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Qatar SC, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Ahli, Al Shamal, Al Wakrah and Al Arabi.

The competition will be played in two stages. The first will use a single round-robin format, with 36 matches spread across nine rounds at Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan arenas, before the league moves into knockout rounds to determine the champion.

Al Arabi enter the new season as defending champions after winning the past three editions, taking their overall tally to 11 league titles.

Al Rayyan lead the competition's all-time honours list with 18 titles, followed by Qatar SC with seven. Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Shamal and former club El Jaish SC have each won two titles, while Al Ahli have one.
