QTerminals Qatar Classic Opens with Strong Competition and Crowds

The first round of the main draw at the QTerminals Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2026 opened with intense competition and strong attendance in Doha.

A total of 32 men's and women's matches were played on the opening day, featuring leading players and reigning champions from around the world.

Saad Al Mohannadi, Executive Director of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, said the tournament had delivered high-level matches from the outset.

The only major upset in the men's draw saw Peru's Diego Elias, a two-time Qatar Classic champion in 2021 and 2024, eliminated. Most of the other seeded players progressed to the second round.

Organisers said the strong opening, large crowds and international-standard facilities reflected the tournament's standing on the global squash calendar.

The second round is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
