HH the Amir calls for Istisqa prayer in Qatar tomorrow

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has called for the Istisqa, or rain-seeking prayer, to be performed on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

The call was announced by the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.

Istisqa prayer is performed in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as Muslims turn to Allah in supplication and ask for rainfall.

What is Istisqa prayer?

Salat Al Istisqa is a special prayer traditionally performed when rainfall is delayed or when communities are seeking rain.

Worshippers gather for prayer and supplication, with emphasis placed on repentance, seeking forgiveness and asking Allah for rain and mercy.

Qatar regularly holds Istisqa prayer during the season when rainfall is sought.

In November 2025, HH the Amir also called for the prayer to be performed nationwide and joined worshippers at the Lusail prayer ground.

The latest call comes as Qatar enters the period when seasonal rainfall typically becomes more prominent.
