Qatar raises customs tariffs to 18% on selected chicken products and 15% on certain vegetables

Qatar has issued Decree No. 45 of 2026, introducing higher customs tariff rates on selected chicken products and certain agricultural goods.

Under the decree, the customs tariff on specified chicken products will be raised to 18%, while selected agricultural products will be subject to a 15% tariff during designated peak production periods.

The decree states that the new provisions will take effect 60 days after publication in the Official Gazette.

Which chicken products will have an 18% tariff?

Article 1 of the decree states that the customs tariff rate will be raised to 18% on the chicken products listed in its accompanying schedule.

These include:

• Whole fresh or chilled chicken — HS code 020711000000
• Chilled chicken breasts — 020713000008
• Chilled chicken thighs — 020713000009
• Chilled chicken wings — 020713000010

The decree specifies the new tariff rate, rather than the percentage by which the previous tariff has increased.

This means the correct wording is that the tariff has been raised to 18%, rather than increased by 18%.

15% seasonal tariff on selected agricultural products

Article 2 introduces a tariff rate of 15% on selected agricultural products during specified periods of peak local agricultural production.

The products and applicable months are:

Outside the months specified in the decree, the 15% seasonal rate does not apply under this provision.

Why are different months listed?

The decree links the agricultural tariff increases specifically to peak production periods.

Rather than applying the 15% rate throughout the entire year, the measure is targeted to the months identified for each product.

This means the customs treatment differs depending on both the product and the time of year.

When will the new tariffs take effect?

Article 3 states that the decree will come into force 60 days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The decree was issued by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and forms part of amendments to Qatar’s integrated customs tariff framework.
